Brian Aker is the Director of Technology for MySQL. At MySQL he helps set direction for technology and looks for opportunies to harness and shape the MySQL database for efforts in Web, OEM, and Telephony. In his copious amounts of free time he works on Apache and Perl modules, libmemcached, and hacks on the Asterisk Telephony System (hence never has a working home phone number). In the past, he has been involved with projects for the Army Engineer Corps, The Virtual Hospital, Splunk, Grazr, and Slashdot. He lives in Seattle with his dog Rosalynd.

Stefan Koopmanschap is Zend PHP5 Certified Software Engineer and Professional Services Consultant at Ibuildings. In his spare time he works on developing tons of sites and has a big love of Open Source Software. After the first time he saw the symfony framework, he was immediately impressed and can be seen as a symfony advocate at this point, especially aiming at The Netherlands. He does this by doing presentations, by writing weblog posts, by working on symfony projects both in his hobby projects as well as professionally, and by running the website symfony-framework.nl. Aside from symfony, Stefan is a big enthusiast of PHP5 and the more professional way of development it supports. He is also a very big supporter of an agile approach of project management and execution. He does believe that there is no true agile system, but that most projects/companies benefit most from a combination of SCRUM and XP.

Erik Kort OXID eSales AG

Erik Kort is head of development at OXID eSales AG and therefore responsible for architecture, scalability and robustness of OXID eShop and OXID eFire. He's programming for more than 10 years in various programming languages and finally returned to PHP a couple of years ago.

José León founded qadram software S.L. in 2003, a company focused on custom software development and specialized in open source customizations. In 2007, qadram software S.L. partnered with CodeGear to jointly develop and market Delphi for PHP, based on an existing product called qstudio. Today, he alternates the role of CEO with the role of Chief Architect for Delphi for PHP.

Scott MacVicar Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd

Scott is the lead developer of the SQLite3 and subversion extensions as well as the ImageMagick PHP wrapper. He also helps with LibGD and the core in between. Currently he is a developer at Jelsoft Enterprises in England, UK. Topics of interest at the moment are image manipulation and web application scalability with databases.

Kore Nordmann currently studies computer science at the University of Dortmund and works as a freelancer, speaker and author. Fabien Potencier is a serial entrepreneur. In 1998, right after graduation, Fabien founded his very first company with a fellow student. The company was a web agency focused on simplicity and Open Source technologies, and was called Sensio. His acute technical knowledge and his endless curiosity won him the confidence of many French big corporate companies. Fabien is the lead developer of the symfony framework. Today, Fabien's spends most of his time as Sensio's CEO and as the symfony project leader.

Derick Rethans eZ systems

Derick Rethans provides solutions for Internet related problems. He has contributed in a number of ways to the PHP project, including the mcrypt, date and input-filter extensions, bug fixes, additions and leading the QA team. Thorsten Rinne, graduated in Computer Science, is working as project manager for Mayflower GmbH in Munich, Germany. Zoë Slattery is a software engineer working for IBM, her current interests are in open source development and in particular in writing tests for PHP. In the past Zoë has worked in many areas of the IT industry, she started as a FORTRAN programmer, worked on parallel systems for numerically intensive computation and managed a data archive for the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts.
